Phlebotomy Technician Course

Our 10-day hybrid Phlebotomy Technician course combines nine days of asynchronous online coursework with one comprehensive, hands-on lab day.

Online coursework (9 days, asynchronous): Complete your lessons, quizzes, and final exam on your own schedule, at your own pace, before attending the in-person lab.

Lab day (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM): Lab day begins with a review of the online material, followed by a written exam. Students must score 80% or higher on this exam to proceed to the afternoon lab session. Once you pass, you'll move into hands-on practice — starting with simulation blood draws to build safe technique and confidence, then progressing to supervised live venipuncture with your classmates.

If you don't pass the written exam: You will not be permitted to attend the lab portion that day. Don't worry — you're welcome to retake the written exam and attend lab the following month at no additional charge.

Certification: Students who successfully complete all course requirements and demonstrate competency receive a Health Tech Associates Phlebotomy Technician Certificate of Completion.

Want to go further? Students may also separately register for the MedCA national Phlebotomy Technician certification exam through Health Tech Associates to pursue national certification.

The Phlebotomy Technician course is $750, including tuition and course materials.

The MedCA national certification exam is optional and requires a separate $145 registration fee.

State certification, registration, and employment requirements may vary, so students should review the requirements for the state where they plan to work.

Phlebotomy technicians may work in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood donation centers, physician offices, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and other settings where blood collection and specimen handling are performed.
