Online Medication Manager Course - $79

This self-paced, self-directed Medication Manager course is approved by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) and is designed to provide the required education and skill validation for medication administration.

Students have up to 60 days to complete all course requirements.

The course includes:

• 12 hours of online medication administration training
• 8 hours of skill check-off training with a Registered Nurse (RN) at the student’s workplace

Students are responsible for arranging their own RN to supervise and complete the required skill check hours. Health Tech Associates does not provide an RN for this portion of the course.

During the 8 hours of RN-supervised skill check, students must demonstrate competency in the following procedures:

• Handwashing
• Administration of oral medications
• Administration of eye drops
• Administration of eye ointment
• Administration of ear drops
• Administration of nasal medications
• Administration of topical medications
• Applying a transdermal patch
• Applying transdermal ointment
• Assisting with a Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI)

The required skill verification form is provided within the online course. Once the skill check requirements are completed, the supervising RN must complete the form and the student must upload it into the course platform.

Health Tech Associates will review and validate the submitted documentation before the student can progress to the final exam.

Students must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the final exam. Once all course requirements have been completed and the student earns an 80% or higher on the final exam, the Certificate of Completion will automatically populate in the course platform.

Registration is not processed immediately. Please allow up to 24 hours for your registration to be processed.

Once your enrollment has been completed, you will receive an email prompting you to create your password and access the online course.

Medication Manager Prerequisites

To become a CNA medication manager, you must be 18 years old or older. This role is typically found in residential care facilities with 15 beds or less, assisted living settings, childcare centers, supportive living communities, and home and community-based services. Additionally, you will need to complete a medication administration course, and an RN must agree to supervise 8 practicum hours at your workplace. Online medication training can also be beneficial in preparing you for this role.

Cost

One-time payment of $79 for the CNA medication manager online medication training.

No refunds will be given for the medication administration course.

To verify completion of the skill check hours, the RN must complete the required verification form provided within the online course. The student is responsible for uploading the completed form into the course platform.

Once Health Tech Associates reviews and validates the submitted RN verification form, the student will be permitted to progress to the final exam.

This course is self-directed, meaning students are responsible for completing all required coursework, assignments, skill check documentation, and the final exam within the 60-day completion period.

Students must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the final exam. Once all course requirements have been completed and a passing score of 80% or higher is achieved, the student's Certificate of Completion will automatically populate in the course platform.

Insulin administration falls outside the responsibilities of a CNA medication manager. However, if a facility or workplace opts to assign insulin administration to a medication manager, this is permissible under the delegation policy. While the skill of insulin administration is not included in this medication administration course, diabetes is among the many conditions covered, along with key terms like hypoglycemia and insulin reaction. This online medication training equips participants with the essential knowledge needed for effective care.
