Medication Aide (CMA)
CMA Prerequisites
- 18 years old or older
- Have worked at your facility for a minimum of 480 hrs
- An RN agrees to supervise 20 practicum hours in your facility
- Your Director of Nursing will write a letter of recommendation
Cost
Tuition and books are $650 which is payable by the facility or the student.

Timeline
- Class is 4 weeks long on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10 am-2 pm at our West Des Moines Training Center.
- You must complete all in-person hours with an RN preceptor in addition to your online coursework to be permitted to start your practicum hours.
- Your online coursework will consist of written assignments for each chapter of study and quizzes for each unit of student outside of your classroom time.
- To be successful in this class, students must be proficient with computers, typing, and uploading documents independently.
- Once your classroom time and online coursework is complete you will complete a minimum of 20 hours of practicum at your facility.
- Upon completion of your practicum hours, you will need to achieve an 80% on a proctored exam at the training center.
