Medication Aide (CMA)

CMA Prerequisites

• 18 years old or older
• Have worked at your facility for a minimum of 480 hrs
• An RN agrees to supervise 20 practicum hours in your facility
• Your Director of Nursing will write a letter of recommendation  

Tuition and books are $725 which is payable by the facility or the student.

Ineligible to take this course 

Students must complete both their classroom sessions and online coursework before beginning their practicum or clinical hours with an RN preceptor. The class spans 4 weeks, meeting twice per week at our West Des Moines Training Center. 

In addition to classroom instruction, the online coursework includes written assignments for each chapter and quizzes for every unit. Proficiency in using computers, typing, and uploading documents independently is necessary for success in this course.

Once the classroom and online components are finished, students will complete a minimum of 20 practicum hours at their facility. To successfully complete the program, students must also achieve a score of at least 80% on a proctored exam at the training center.
